Commuting is a part of the everyday life of almost everyone who lives in a major urban area. In Transit is an exploration of how these people spend their time while on a subway train. Filtered by the photograhper’s eyes and world view, the annonymous commuter enjoys his trusty handheld device, prepare for her next appointment or simply relax after the day is almost done. Despite the fact that every person shares the same subway car, it seems they are almost invisible to each other.
My inspiration for this project came from the many trips taken while I was living in the huge city of São Paulo. I took the same train to work everyday and went back home on the same bus, but never enganged in a single conversation with any of my fellow commuters.
